for in-house projects

The Delaware Gazette
Lead designer, copy editor and social media coordinator
September 2009–June 2010; November 2010–present
My redesign of the newspaper earned five design awards from The Associated Press.
I design four to 12 pages on a strict nightly deadline, as well as all of the editorial special sections, using QuarkXPress.
I collaborate with reporters to produce maps, information graphics and illustrations on an as-needed basis using Adobe Illustrator.
When our website was rebuilt, I trained the newsroom staff in Wordpress and Photoshop.
I created a daily local calendar page and I manage all submissions for it.
I established and maintain the newspaper’s presence on Twitter and Facebook.
I edit all stories for spelling, grammar, punctuation and Associated Press style.

Black Squirrel Radio

My redesign of blacksquirrelradio.com increased website traffic by 55 percent in one semester, due in part to the new addition of staff blogs.
